Psoriasis is a genetically transmitted disease. The meaning of genetic transition is as follows; There is no such thing that there will be a disease in the mother, father and aunt. The disease can occur after 7 generations. In other words, don’t say ‘I don’t have my mother or father, how can I be?’ Answering the questions, Dr. Mehmet İlteber Bahadır made striking statements. It may be in one of the 4 siblings in a house and not in the others. The disease can be seen at any age, but as I always mentioned, the disease occurs mostly in the period of adolescence. Again, psoriasis in women mostly occurs during adolescence, pregnancy and post-pregnancy (maternal hormones are withdrawn). In men, it is mostly seen in adolescence and social-economic depression periods.
Of course, there are many factors that trigger psoriasis. Examples of these include stress, certain foods and medications. Psoriasis is a disease in which the skin enters a vicious circle. To give an example, as a result of a stressful process that a young woman enters during adolescence, psoriasis lesions may appear on the body, arm, back and legs of the young person. However, even if the stressful process of the young patient is over and he continues a happy life, even if this beautiful process lasts for 20 years, the psoriasis lesions remain on the skin permanently. Because the skin has entered a vicious circle, psoriasis characterized by excessive production and spills has occurred. While normal healthy skin is renewed once in 28 days, the skin is renewed several times a day in psoriasis patients. As a result, psoriasis-colored crusting and scaling, which is the typical appearance of psoriasis, occurs.
Giving important information about the types of psoriasis, Dr. Mehmet İlteber Bahadır continued as follows. The favorite skin structure of psoriasis is dry type skin. There are many types of psoriasis. The disease is most common in areas where the skin is affected. To give an example, we can show the knee, elbow, forearm, lower leg and the line where the scalp meets the forehead. While we can observe that the disease spreads to the whole body in a patient with dry skin, we can see that the same type of psoriasis is limited only to the knees and elbows in a patient with oily skin. Whether the skin is moist or dry is a direct factor in the spread of the disease.
